About
My name is Nikos and I am a professional musician with more than 20 years of experience as a performer on stage and in studio for numerous Artists in various styles and genres.
As a Classical Violinist I have played a vast amount of solo and Symphonic/Chamber repertoire and gained a lot of experience in string Arrangements and the art of Composition and Improvisation. Besides that I have played in a number of Bands, from Gypsy Swing to Symphonic Black Metal.
As a member of a family of musicians I have been playing the Violin since age four. My Classical education included Studies, Competitions, Masterclasses with some of the best violin teachers and numerous concerts with Symphonic Orchestras and ensembles in some of the best venues in the world.
Currently resident in Greece, I am mostly teaching and working in my home studio providing top quality String recordings and Arrangements for customers from all over the World.
Bio
The Classical Times
- Born in Kazakhstan in 1982, I have received my first Violin lessons from my grandfather at age four. Later on I went for two years to the Almaty Music School, until my family moved to Greece in 1991
- In Greece my father became my main teacher, until I graduated from the Music School in 2001. During that time I have participated in some National and International Violin competitions and took part in numerous Masterclasses with some known names in the Academic world like Zakhar Bron or Sergei Kravchenko.
- In 2002 I moved to Germany to finally study at the Musikhochschule Karslruhe, under the guidance of Prof. Albrecht Breuninger. During the course of my studies I felt the need to experiment on the Violin technique and totally changed the way I played the Instrument. This was a hard time, both for me and for my teacher, who showed great patience during that relatively long period. I finally graduated from the school, deeply thankful for the experience and the help of my teacher, but also strongly disappointed with the Academic approach to Violin and Music studies in general.
- My last tribute to the world of Classical Violin was my participation in the Masterclass of my favourite Violinist of all times, Leonidas Kavakos. This was a very hard decision to make, considered the fact that I have sworn never to deal with the Academic world again in my life. But the wish to meet the Master in person was stronger than any fear or prejudice. This was one of the best and most important experiences in my musical development, both in an educational but also in a psychological way. After that, I finally became free.
